I. was wondering if Modbus TCP / IP support was planned in the near future.
Modbus is very well supported in the open source world and would enable they use of a large selection of pre-existing software, hardware and PLCs, in North American particularly.
Modbus will be added soon
I have been messing around with a behaviour interface to add tracking pulses to a drive. It has suddenly dawned on me that you may already have such functionality tucked away somewhere, please let me know before I re-invent the wheel ;)
No we don't send out pulses so far on a drive. But it should be simple to add. I only see a problem if drive is to fast. Pulses could be needed faster than communication cycle is.
I see you are working on an interface to Fanuc Roboguide. This is a key interest for us. How is it coming along?
you will need the Professional version because all the "advanced" interfaces are part of Professional (like the needed Shared Memory Interface to PLCConnect).
Currently the PLCConnect developers are developing a "special" Game4Automation Interface what will be a "special" PLCConnect Interface on the Game4Automation Professional side. But the current version and standard Shared Memory should also work.
I will get you a PLCConnet trial and some documentation on it. It might take until end of this week. Could you please send me your full contact data to email@example.com.
Thanks and best regards
I have not purchased the asset yet, cause i have some questions!
So, I have a driving game, beckoff PLC and a pneumatically controlled platform. Is this asset good tool to get that platform moving by using the rotation variables from Unity?
Yes you can do that over OPCUA (included in Game4Automation Professional). With OPCUA you can transfer the values to the Beckhoff PLC.
In 1-2 months Game4Automation Professional will include also a direct ADS Interface. We are currently developing it.
Can I deploy demo app into my iPad by using starter kit?
Hi, yes you can do that with Unity and Game4automation Starter. It is a little bit more complicated than for Android. You will need a Mac for final compilation (alternatively Unity’s cloud build) and an Apple developer account. In Unity’s build settings you will need to set IOS as Build target.
I am a student who wants to use your product for my project to connect my Android Augmented Reality app made from Unity to read the values from a Siemens PLC in real time. In short, I wish to be able to have something like this in my app from your photos.
I am slightly confused as the PLC I want to connect to is covered in the starter pack. However, I am more familiar with using OPC UA client to connect to the servers. As this is a proof of concept for education, I may not have the capital for the OPCUA4unity. Would the Game4Automation Starter be able to achieve my objective? If not, would there be a educational license for the OPCUA4Unity?
I hope to hear from you soon. Thank you!
Yes sure this is possible. The ip adress is just a property and you can start the connect at any time by script if you want. You will need to build a GUI based on Unitys UI system to let the user put in the IP adresse and then you can start the connection via script.
First off all we try to make the business different on a shareware basis. We also hope to encourage by that a large user community which is exchanging solutions - like it is usually done in the Unity Echo System.
Second of all Game4Automation is a totally open system. If we don't have something in our Framework you could do it on your own or look in the Unity Asset Store for solutions (https://assetstore.unity.com/). Everything is possible like in Games. For sure it is not so deeply integrated into the CAD like for example NX Mechatronics Concept Desiger. But by this deep integration you also get all the limitations. No way to deliver the digital twin to your customer. No way to build your own application on top of your digital twin. These limitation are there because of technology or APIs missing in these tools or because of the strong and very restricting license contracts No way to use newest VR and AR technology - which is allways integrated in unity itsel. And like in Game Game4Aumation could be deployed to anywhere - the web, windows PCs, Android or IOS.
Game4Automation is free under the Apache2.0 License. You could deliver - what you develop based on it - to anywhere!
